Real world dialogs – “Your car will fall into a crevasse, OK / Cancel”
As I arrived home at the farm Friday evening, I got stopped by a modal dialog (of sorts.) Due to a day of torrential rain, the creek that normally flows under the driveway had eaten the driveway! To warn any visitors of the big hole, I put up this big duck sign…
Which got me thinking about software dialogs. They’re annoying, and overused. If you really have to force the user to “stop everything and answer your stupid question” then why not make them more useful. Even adding a cartoon duck might help!
