Eco Media Player: battery-free music

eco-media.jpgComing soon from Trevor Baylis Brands is a wind-up mp3 player. The Eco Media Player will give you 40 minutes of play time on 1 minute of crank time. The cool thing is that it also doubles as a charger for your cell phone. Trevor Baylis is an outspoken British inventor who’s been the pioneer of all thing cranked! Favourite Trevor quote:

The key to success is to risk thinking unconventional thoughts. Convention is the enemy of progress. As long as you’ve got slightly more perception that the average wrapped loaf, you could invent something.

You can buy the EMP at The Ethical Superstore starting on August 27th.

  15. Wind-up LED flashlights go for about $20 US….
    Why should a crank-up mp3 player cost $350?
Hmm, something fishy about pricing.. besides.. I think it’s something for the catalog of sharper image than main stream devices..

Hybrid NIMH, or Lithium Ion batteries are reasonable solutions at much cheaper cost and minimal environment impact if recycled properly..
