Teehan + Lax’s UX Fund: up 33.94%

teehanlax.jpgYou’ve all heard of Green funds – where your money funds companies who have environmentally sound practices. Last year Toronto-based interactive ad-coTeehan + Lax started a UX fund. They picked 10 companies who they thought had excellent user experiences. The hypothesis: are companies that invest in UX more profitable? The plan was to buy $50k in shares and let them ride for a year. That year is nearly up and according to co-founder Jon Lax, their UX index is up 33.94% since inception. This compares to the Dow Jones Industrial (16.5%) Nasdaq (18.8%) Nasdaq 100 (25%).

The rationale for the companies they picked are interesting. Too bad about JetBlue. The downward spiral wasn’t about bad UX – but grounded planes. Predictably, Apple and RIM produced the highest returns!
