Chromatophobia: Fear the User Interface!
ColourLovers brings us an interesting perspective on the abnormal and persistent fear, some people have of certain colours. Are you cyanophobic? Maybe your phobia is linked to your computer’s operating system??? Let’s look at some of these nasty colour / UI coincidences…
Fear Of Red: This was brought on by a “mandatory” text field that you missed - marked by a red label. You can’t find it, so you’re stuck in a UI pergatory!
Fear of Blue: A decade ago, you were continuously traumatized by Microsoft’s Blue Screen of Death. SO you switched to Apple… only now to be haunted by Leopard’s Blue Screen of Death!
Fear of Orange: Bring on the Web2.0 apps. Make sure 90% of Web2.0 company logos are Orange! You can scream now!
Fear of Purple: So you’re a big Prince fan - His Purpleness! You have a fan blog, and now he’s suing you. It’s purple raining on your wiki-parade!
Fear of Yellow: Yellow web sites??? ’nuff said!
Fear of White: You go to a web site called FearOfWhiteSpace , and it’s all black and white and yellow! What the?
Fear of Green: Stashed away in your basement you have 4 old CRT displays (one of them displays in green only!). You have 2 old Sony laptops, and 7 replacement batteries. You have some very large backup power supplies with leaky batteries. You have one Dell laptop that just caught on fire (again.) … to be continued…
Fear of Black: Well, just as I was writing this post in WordPress, I got the new improved Black Screen of Death!
