Graaaaaains: Zombie micro-brews we’d like to see

It’s becoming too common – longstanding domestic beer giants bought out by bigger international giants: in Canada – Labatt, Molson, Sleeman; in the US – Anheuser-Busch soon to be run out of Belgium. That’s right: Bud Light – The Official Beer of Antwerp, since 2008!

Here in Ontario Canada, it gets worse – our beer stores are monopolies owned by the brewers – Belgian and Japanese brewers. They like to sell their brands and “hide” the micro-brews in the back. This is not helping our regional favourites like Beau’s, Creemore, Draft Horse, and Steam Whistle. Mark McQueen at the Wellington Financial Blog has a great essay on this: The Anachronistic Brewers Retail.

As for the pictured Posthumous Pale Ale – alas not a real beer yet – only a cool t-shirt of-the-day on woot! It was designed by Blair Sayer of New Zealand.
