New Microsoft Patent Application Targets Google Ads

October 9th, 2008 by Mitch Brisebois

This morning, Microsoft published a patent application for “Content Commenting and Monetization“. It’s an interesting concept that would allow users to comment on content they find on the web. From what I’m reading into it, users would also be able to attach ads to their comments.

According to Microsoft,

A code is included in content, which code allows a user to use a comment tool to select some or all of the content, to create and submit comments, and to view previously submitted content selections and comments in conjunction with additional content. The additional content may comprise advertisements.
