Another DoomsDay Scenario To Take Off Your List
If you’ve been holding your breath for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to kick back on, power up and produce a black hole that consumes the whole planet, you can breathe again. As it turns out the end of the world probably can’t happen this way. I know, I thought a black hole was a black hole. According to Live Science, it’s a matter of scale.
The LHC will only produce micro black holes that evaporate quickly. They say that cosmic rays with enough energy create equivalent micro black holes around us all the time. Uh, I think I’m supposed to feel comforted now by this knowledge. So for the doomsday folks, sorry it’s back to the skies to watch for stray comets.
