iPeriscope for iPhone + iSkype
What do you think about my new product idea? Introducing the iPeriscope. This nifty add on lets you see yourself on your iPhone for video conferencing.
Note the suction cup and the transparent periscope diagram showing us how it works! Of course, this is just vapour-ware that I’ve made up. In truth, who knows whether Skype will deliver video as well as VoiP on the iPhone. You’d hope so, but it’s up to Apple how much they limit the application.
I can understand Apple’s stance to limit Skype to Wi-Fi. After all, you can already get around the long distance charges using Skype on any cell phone including the iPhone by simply dialing a Skype number. The battle for unnecessary charges has long been lost. Front door / back door it doesn’t matter and as for the camera on the back of the iPhone. I think that’s great! It lets people see what I’m looking at and not my ugly face.
Nevertheless, I’m sure people will be Googling “iPhone periscope”. Just think how useful the iPeriscope would be for the iPhone. If you’re interested in a real product (potentially D-I-Y). Check out the uber cool video conferencing iPhone stand. I like it. I want one. Just as soon as I buy an iPhone. It’s way better than this made up Photoshop version pictured here that probably wouldn’t actually work.
B.T.W. Let’s hope Skype works on the iPod Touch. (You will need to buy the headphones with a microphone).
