After all, they like to do things their own way and, why not? They can make their web browser anyway they want to and they can ignore whoever they like. At the same, time I can choose to ignore Microsoft as I have for years now. We don’t cater to IE here at SensoryMetrics. Yes there are features on this site that you’ll only see if you’re using Firefox, not IE. For instance if you type http://sensorymetrics.com/ [followed by some garbage] you’ll get a 404 error message. If you’re using IE it’ll be some generic 404 message and as far as I know, there is no work around for IE’s shortcomings in this case. But if you’re using Firefox, you’ll see this nice SensoryMetrics page with a cute little message and a list of all of our posts.

404 Not Found

If you ask me, there’s a big difference between the UX of these two results. It’s these seemingly small differences that eat away at you as a web designer. Eventually it pushes you over the edge and you scream, “If it doesn’t work on IE then too bad! It’s their loss!” It may also explain why we still get more Firefox traffic than IE. At least I haven’t started to block IE visitors all together.
