Captcha Hell Revisited: Digg digs Accessibility

Captchas are those twisted letters and numbers some sites make us type in to prove we're human. As I've written before, captchas do not help the visually impaired. I was really pleased to notice that DIGG quietly adopted an optional audio captcha. Kudos. [tags]captchas,DIGG[/tags]

HP Labs: Digg and the collective attention

There's an interesting new study published by HP's Information Dynamics Lab: Novelty and Collective Attention. It's a mathematical analysis of Digg. The authors attempt to predict the attention span of a mob of diggers, and how long they keep a new "front page" story on the front page. The conclusion: 69 minutes. ...
